Know Your Customer (KYC) FAQ

Tip

Please fill out the KYC documents with the same consignee’s name and shipping address used for the order. The mobile phone number provided along with the shipping address will be used for access to the carrier’s KYC web portal. First-timer customers with the carrier will be requested to upload their ID as well. Orders will be returned if the carrier does not receive KYC documents within 7 business days of placing the order.

What is KYC?

The Customs Department of India requires all consignees to submit Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation. This documentation is government recognized identification and address proof used for import clearance purposes. At iHerb, we provide a KYC documentation upload service through Aramex. Aramex will send a link to upload KYC and Form 7 documents via SMS text message.

Aramex will send an SMS or call multiple times per day until the KYC period expires, which is in 7 days. Every SMS has a different link, and only the most recent link is valid. The link in the previous SMS will be expired once a new link is generated and sent to the consignees.

Orders will be canceled if KYC documentation is not provided within 7 business days. If your document is incorrect or invalid, please make sure to upload the corrected documents in 5 days of receiving the rejection notice.

Use of business entity information for KYC may result in order cancellation as this service is only intended for personal use importation. If orders are canceled, the carrier may dispose of the orders and refunds may not be granted or delayed until we have received the orders back into our warehouse system.

What documents are accepted by the Customs Department of India?

Acceptable forms of documentation are:

  • Aadhar Card
  • Consignee’s passport
  • Drivers License
  • Permanent Account Number (PAN) card
  • Voter ID

Foreigners residing in India need to provide a consignee's passport and Visa/PIO card.

In case the KYC document does not match with the shipping address, provide ONE of the following documents as proof of address. The address on this document must match the shipping address.

  • Bank Account Statement
  • Electricity Bill
  • Employee ID
  • Hotel Booking Receipt
  • LPG Connection Receipt
  • Rent Agreement
  • Hostel ID card / College ID with hostel Fee receipt
What should I do if I submitted incorrect KYC documents?

Your KYC will be rejected and Aramex will send you a rejection message via SMS message with follow-up instructions. Please follow the instructions and upload the correct documents. If no response is received by the carrier or any invalid information is not corrected in the carrier’s web portal within 5 days, the order will be canceled. Once canceled the carrier may dispose of the orders and refunds may not be granted or delayed until we have received the orders back into our warehouse system.

What if information on my KYC documentation and order delivery information doesn’t match?

Aramex will send you a rejection message via SMS text message with follow-up instructions. If no response is received or if any invalid information is not corrected within 5 days, the order will be canceled and the carrier may dispose of the orders and refunds may not be granted or delayed until we have received the orders back into our warehouse system.

What if I provided the wrong phone number and am unable to receive KYC SMS notifications?

Please contact Aramex directly if you provided an incorrect phone number at +91 22 64803300 or email Aramex. Please note the mobile phone number you use for your iHerb order will be used for access to the Aramex KYC web portal as well.

Can I update the consignee name and shipping address for my order?

You may be able to update this information by contacting Aramex Customer Service at +91 22 64803300 or email Aramex. However, if the carrier is unable to update this information, refunds will not be provided unless orders are returned to one of our warehouses.
